“Leak Piece” started with a series of experimental drawings on the wall of the artist’s studio. As the drawings multiplied they began to adapt the space. The artist continued to work on the wall exploring control, loss of control, boundaries, pushing boundaries, the act of breaking, ejaculation, sadism, masochism, sex, the body, personal narrative, repetition, cycle, life, death, water, light, opacity, layers, time, space, and intentionality. She used various materials including plaster, condoms, dead fish, leaves, water, light bulbs, wax, cloth, monofilament, plastic, glass, pins, dirt, and trash. The piece evolved into a performance. During the performance the artist operated a water system she had built into the wall. At the climax of the performance, the failing water system broke, dumping 10 gallons of water into the space. |
